Prefers medium soil moisture and full sun. Blooms July-September. Spreads by rhizomes - meaning it will spread underground, putting out roots and shoots. A great host plant for numerous species of insects, as well as a seed source for songbirds (including goldfinches). Easily identified by the fine soft hairs on stems and leaves.
