Sweet Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia subtomentosa)

Sweet Black-eyed Susan has larger blooms than most other Rudbeckias, and more well-behaved in formal gardens. Will reach 3 to 5 feet in height. Blooms July through October. Prefers medium soil moisture and partial shade to full sun, but is adaptable to many conditions. Longer-lived than other Rudbeckias, will return for many years. Thrives in clay soils and withstands high winds. One plant can have 20 or more flowers when mature. The foliage has a pleasant scent resembling Sweetgrass.
