Blooms July through October. Prefers dry to medium soil moisture and full sun. A great host plant for dozens of Lepidoptera species. Provides seed for birds. Can reach 10’ in rich soil. Ideal conditions are full sun and thin & rocky soil. Spreads slowly by rhizomes. Wispy foliage and profuse blooms in late summer. One of our best native species for cut flower arrangements.
