White Wild Indigo (Baptisia alba)

White Wild Indigo is a legume that reaches 3 to 4 feet in height. White, pea-like blooms on an upright stem June through July. Flowers are followed by interesting seedpods that provide great winter interest. Pollinated by bumble bees. Prefers medium soil moisture and full sun.

Takes a couple years to establish but it is very long-lived. Host plant for larvae of the Wild Indigo Duskywing butterfly.
